Open Mic is back and better than ever! Please read the following…

Do you or someone you know have what it takes to make Philly laff? If so…

Here’s what you have to do:

1) Sign Up:  Call the Laff House Comedy Club @ 215-440-4242 during box office hours ( Thurs. – Sat. 12pm-10pm)

2) Leave you name and contact info

3) Visit www.laffhouse.com to view upcoming list.  List will be posted no later than 48hrs before show date.

All entries will be entered. 8 names per show will be chosen. Please keep in mind that lots of people sign up and names are randomly drawn. So if your name hasn’t been chosen yet just be patient because you’ll make the cut eventually.

Here’s where it gets fun!

There will be 8 comics chosen for Open Mic Wednesday. At the end of each show the audience will choose their top 2 favorite comedians (based off of audience applause).

If you have been chosen you will return to compete on the last Wednesday of that month. The winner of this round (also based off of audience applause) will be given the opportunity to perform at one of the funniest comedy shows in the city, Laff Therapy Thursday hosted by the one and only Lawrence Killebrew AND will also be guaranteed a PAID hosting gig on “Open Mic Night Wednesday” !  If you can make it there…who knows where your future in comedy may go… possibly a paid MC weekend with the best of the best comics from all over the country!

Again….  All winners are chosen based off of crowd feedback! So let your friends, family, co-workers and fans know when your performing so that you receive all the love you need to make it to the next round!

Official Rules:

1. Comics must be 18 or older with ID. It is the comic’s responsibility to read and understand the rules, which will always be posted online at www.laffhouse.com and are subject to change.

2. We ask that all comics  (those who made the list)   arrive and sign in no later than a half hour before show time. We always start the show ON TIME (8pm). If you are not signed in within 15 min. of show time, you will not be a part of the line up.

3. Although you are not required to bring guest we ask that you try to have as many people support you as possible. This should not be difficult, since there is NO COVER charge. There is a 2 item purchase minimum for food/drink per guest.

4. Raunchy comedy is unacceptable. Cleaner comedy is preferred and foul language is tolerated if it really helps your set. We aren’t asking you to be totally clean, just don’t be totally offensive. That means minimize your  “F” words if you must use it at all, no “N” word or the gay “F” word…and do not base your set around vile hatred or mean spiritedness. Certainly never mistreat an audience member and if you are in doubt about your content, keep it cleaner, it’s more professional anyway. If you are reckless on stage you will be disqualified.

5. The Director will assign your stage time (up to 8 min.). You will receive the red light 1 minute before you should get off stage. Please stick to your time and be mindful of the red light right in front of you. Should you go over your time you will be disqualified.

6. We do not want or expect comics to enforce the rules of the house. The Open Mic Director runs the show, enforces the rules and makes judgments as needed. We don’t need drama. Enjoy your stage time and be supportive of the show. Just BE FUNNY and you will be loved and respected.

7. If you have been chosen to compete and cannot make it for whatever reason we ask that you call before show time. If you are a no call no show on the night of your performance you may not be able to sign up for open mic in the future.

*Our objective is to have a great show. We want happy guests and a creative, supportive atmosphere for comics. We want comics to feel they are growing and getting better through stage time and we want guests to love our venue and become repeat customers. Please start by getting on board with our objective. This is essential.
